Speed skiing
Les Alpes, a beautiful ski haven with blue skies and thick packs of snow, is were the British world champion of speed skiing, Marc Poncin, practices his speed skiing skills. Speed skiing was originally invented in the mid 1950’s by Colorado miners. It is the fasted non mechanized sport in the world with speeds going up to over 240 kilometers or 150 miles per hour!

Speed skiing: straight downhill
Speed skiers do not take turns or steer, they just go straight down the hill like a rocket. Speed skiers can accelerate from 0-200 km/h in just 5 seconds. The world record speed skiing now stands on 240 km/h. Due to technological developments this record will most likely be broken in the future. Just take a look at the speed skiers suit and equipment all specially designed for reaching maximum speed. The funny looking helmet and rubber suit makes a speed skier look like an alien contributing in a truly out of this world experience.
